Kevin Fitzgerald, Superintendent of Caesar Rodney School District, is commended for being named the National Association of School Superintendents' 2018 Superintendent of the Year.

Fitzgerald served as a social studies teacher for 13 years before becoming assistant principal and principal of Caesar Rodney High School prior to his superintendent role.

Under Fitzgerald's leadership, the district has expanded technology and blended learning programs, increased community and stakeholder outreach, and added new facilities including classrooms at McIlvaine Early Childhood Center, a new elementary school, and a ninth-grade academy.

Caesar Rodney School District serves approximately 8,000 students across 12 schools, including a specialized school for students with autism and a school located on Dover Air Force Base, with students able to study seven different world languages.

Fitzgerald received the award at the National Association of School Superintendents' National Advocacy Conference on September 23-25, 2018, in Washington, D.C.
