Increases minimum sentence for possession of a firearm during commission of a felony from 3 years to 5 years at Level V.

Increases minimum sentence for repeat offenders (those with at least 2 prior felony convictions) from 5 years to 10 years at Level V.

Restores requirement that sentences for firearm possession during felony be served consecutively with other sentences and prohibits suspension of sentences, good time credits, parole, or probation.

Applies to persons age 16 and older charged with using, displaying, or discharging a firearm during commission of a violent felony, who must be tried as adults following an evidentiary hearing.

Aims to enhance public safety by strengthening penalties for dangerous and violent crimes committed with firearms.
