HB 307 Summary

• Corrects charter citations for mayoral and town council residency qualifications, changing references from Section C-6C to Section 6.3.1(d)[2]

• Requires the Mayor to be a resident of South Bethany at the time of election and maintain residency throughout their term of office

• Requires at least four of seven town council members to qualify as residents of the town and maintain that status throughout their terms

• Changes the organizational meeting of the Town Council from "the first Saturday" following the election to "within 30 days" after the election

• Maintains the Mayor's authority to appoint the Mayor Pro-tempore, Council Secretary, and Treasurer at the organizational meeting, subject to majority vote ratification by the Town Council
