Recognizes that approximately 1 in 700 babies (about 6,000 annually) are born with Down syndrome in the United States, with over 400,000 individuals nationwide living with the condition

Celebrates the contributions of Delawareans with Down syndrome who attend school, work, and participate in their communities

Acknowledges the Down Syndrome Association of Delaware as a supportive resource advocating for acceptance and equal opportunity for individuals with Down syndrome

Notes that March 21 was selected because it symbolizes the triplication (trisomy) of the 21st chromosome that causes Down syndrome
