Acknowledges that approximately 40 million people globally were victims of modern slavery in 2016, including victims of forced labor, forced marriage, debt bondage, and sexual exploitation.

Notes that women and girls comprise 99% of sexual slavery victims and 84% of forced marriage victims globally.

States that approximately 60,000 individuals are currently victims of modern slavery in the United States.

Emphasizes that increased public awareness is essential to educate people about the signs and consequences of human trafficking and to combat perpetrators of these crimes.
