Designates May 22, 2022, as World Preeclampsia Day in Delaware to raise awareness of this serious pregnancy-related disease.

Acknowledges that preeclampsia and hypertensive disorders of pregnancy cause approximately 76,000 maternal deaths and 500,000 infant deaths annually worldwide.

Recognizes that hypertensive disorders of pregnancy are a leading cause of maternal and infant illness, accounting for approximately 20 percent of newborn intensive care unit admissions.

Supports increased research funding, patient education, healthcare provider training, and prevention efforts to address preeclampsia and related hypertensive pregnancy disorders.

Calls for collaboration between government, health systems, and public and private sector organizations to improve detection, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of hypertensive pregnancy disorders.
