Requires physicians to offer patients ultrasound imaging and auscultation of fetal heart tone services before terminating a pregnancy, except in medical emergencies.

Ultrasound images must show fetal dimensions and accurate portrayal of external members and internal organs at a quality consistent with standard medical practice; patients may choose not to view the image or hear the heartbeat.

Physicians must obtain patient signature on a form confirming the ultrasound and auscultation services were offered before performing the abortion.

Violations constitute a class A misdemeanor and provide grounds for civil malpractice actions, professional disciplinary action, and wrongful death claims; intentional violations are prima facie evidence of medical malpractice.

Patients may proceed in civil actions using initials or pseudonym, request closed proceedings, recover reasonable attorney's fees if judgment is rendered in their favor, and defendants may recover attorney's fees if the suit is found frivolous.
