Active Delaware volunteer firefighters, active volunteer EMTs, and life-members of Delaware volunteer fire departments who are Delaware residents may now choose annually between a free surf fishing vehicle permit OR a free annual permit to enter state parks and recreation areas

Non-resident volunteer firefighters, EMTs, and life-members who volunteer in Delaware may choose between a surf fishing vehicle permit OR an annual state park permit at the Delaware resident rate

Qualifying individuals must submit an annual letter on official fire department or ambulance company letterhead, signed by the department president and authenticated by the Delaware Volunteer Firefighter's Association president

"Active" status requires responding to at least 20% of the department's annual alarms or crew calls as a nonpaid volunteer

The expanded permit options take effect beginning with the 2021 annual state park and recreation area permit seasons
