Delaware State University Women's Lacrosse Team was stopped by Liberty County Sheriff's Office on April 20, 2022, during return trip to Delaware after a game in Florida, with officers claiming a minor traffic violation by the Black bus driver.

Officers conducted an extensive search of the team's luggage and personal belongings, including intimate items, lasting over 20 minutes with a canine unit, but found no illegal substances.

Officers intimidated the team by threatening imprisonment if narcotics were found and demanding confessions before conducting the search.

General Assembly expresses strong support for the Delaware State University Women's Lacrosse Team and condemns the actions of the Liberty County Sheriff's Office in the strongest possible terms.

General Assembly urges Georgia's Governor and General Assembly to condemn the sheriff's office actions, hold responsible parties accountable, and implement training and policies against profiling based on race, ethnicity, religion, or gender.
