Robert L. "Bob" Venables, Sr. was born January 21, 1933, in Bethel, Delaware, and passed away peacefully at his home on December 18, 2021, surrounded by family.

Graduated from Laurel High School where he was known for athletic abilities in football and baseball; married Laura Freidel on October 10, 1953, and had six children, fifteen grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren.

Co-founded W.B. Venables & Sons, Inc., a construction company with his brother Bill that rebuilt homes damaged by Hurricane Hazel in 1954 and created numerous job opportunities throughout the Delmarva Peninsula.

Elected Delaware State Senator representing the 21st District in 1988 and served ably for 26 years.

Senate Resolution extends deepest sympathies to the family of Robert L. Venables, Sr. on his passing and honors his life and legacy of community service.
