Designates May 15, 2024, as Youth Prevention Day in Delaware to raise awareness about substance abuse and mental health issues affecting youth.

Recognizes that 21.3% of 8th graders and 46.6% of 12th graders have tried illicit drugs, and 11.2% of overdose deaths nationwide involve ages 15-24.

Notes Delaware-specific data showing 6.22% of youth ages 12-17 meet criteria for illicit drug use disorder and 3.11% meet criteria for alcohol use disorder.

Encourages state agencies and community organizations to spread evidence-based prevention programming, resources, and age-appropriate supports for youth.

References a May 15, 2024 forum where 30 high school students from all three Delaware counties presented substance abuse and mental health solutions to the Lt. Governor and policymakers.
