School employees may be absent without loss of pay when appearing under subpoena to testify, unless they are a party to the proceeding or the subpoena arises from their other employment or activities

School employees may be absent without loss of pay when reporting to serve on jury duty

Absences for subpoena appearances and jury duty are separate from and do not count against the 3 personal days per fiscal year currently allowed for school employees

Employees must notify their chief school officer in advance and provide a copy of the subpoena or jury duty notification

Extends the same leave protections currently provided to State merit employees to teachers and other school employees
