Recognizes April 19, 1775, as the start of the Revolutionary War with the "Shot Heard Round the World" when Massachusetts colonists engaged British forces

Commemorates the events including Paul Revere's midnight ride warning colonists of British troop movements and the subsequent battles at Lexington and Concord

Acknowledges the approximately 70 militia members who first confronted British forces at Lexington and the nearly 4,000 patriot forces who eventually engaged British troops, inflicting nearly 300 casualties during the 12-mile British retreat to Boston

Honors the colonists' resolve that sparked the fight for American independence
