Authorizes the Collier County Sheriff's Office to pay J. Rae Hoyer $1,129,042.44 as the remaining balance of a civil judgment resulting from her husband Dr. David J. Hoyer's death in 2001.

Dr. Hoyer, a 58-year-old psychiatrist, was killed by jail inmate Rodriguez Patten during a court-ordered competency evaluation; a federal jury found the Sheriff 50 percent comparatively at fault.

The Sheriff's Office had already paid the statutory limit of $200,000 under Florida law, leaving $1,129,042.44 unpaid from the total $1,329,042.44 judgment entered in 2005.

Limits attorney's fees, lobbying fees, costs, and related expenses to no more than 25 percent of the $1,129,042.44 award.

The combined payment from the Sheriff's Office and this appropriation constitute the sole compensation for all claims arising from Dr. Hoyer's death.
