Redefines "special risk member" in the Florida Retirement System to include employees of public acute care hospitals that serve as trauma centers effective July 1, 2010.

Adds criterion (k) to section 121.0515 extending Special Risk Class membership to hospital employees treating patients with deadly or crippling infectious diseases, serious violent crime victims, hazardous materials/biological/chemical agent exposure, or requiring treatment with extremely toxic substances.

Finds that hospital employees at trauma centers serving these populations are serving an important state interest and warrant Special Risk Class membership status.

Effective date is July 1, 2010.
