Requires high school students to complete one-half credit in health education as an independent requirement, separate from physical education credits.

Allows students to waive the health education requirement if they request to take and score a "C" or better on a health education assessment developed by the Department of Education.

Increases core curriculum credits from 16 to 16.5 credits to accommodate the new health education requirement.

Reduces elective course credits from 4 to 3.5 credits to offset the new health education requirement while maintaining the total 24 credits needed for graduation.

Takes effect July 1, 2010.
