District school boards and county supervisors of elections must jointly provide a mandatory voter-education presentation to high school students eligible to register or preregister to vote, with presentations available to nonpublic schools upon request.

Presentation content must cover voter registration and preregistration procedures, voting machine operation, polling locations and hours, voting process including identification requirements, and the importance of voting.

Program must be conducted during school hours at least once per term and provide students with time and information to complete voter registration applications.

No eligible student may be excluded from the program, and the education must be provided to students enrolled in magnet schools.

Effective date: July 1, 2010.
