Students must reimburse educational institutions for Florida Bright Futures award amounts received for courses dropped or courses from which they withdrew after the end of the drop and add period.

Reimbursements received by institutions from students must be refunded to the Department of Education.

Educational institutions must notify the Department of Education and the student of the amount due within 30 days after determining a student has dropped or withdrawn from a course, unless an exception is granted.

Students may be granted an exception to the reimbursement requirement if they dropped courses or withdrew due to verifiable illness or other documented emergency, or if the institution's policy is to refund course costs.

The effective date of these amendments is July 1, 2010.
