Requires property appraisers to adjust assessed values of single-family residential properties affected by defective drywall, with a nominal value of $0 if the building cannot be used for its intended purpose without remediation

Applies only to properties where defective drywall was used in construction, has significant negative impact on property value, and the purchaser was unaware of the drywall at time of purchase

Classifies affected homestead property as damaged by misfortune or calamity without applying the standard 3-year deadline, and prevents the property from being deemed abandoned during remediation if the owner does not establish a new homestead

Sunsets the law on July 1, 2017 unless the Legislature reviews and reenacts it; effective immediately and applies to 2010 and subsequent assessment rolls
