Escambia County is exempted from liability and regulatory action by the Department of Environmental Protection for groundwater contamination arising from the Saufley Landfill property on Saufley Field Road.

The county cannot face regulatory enforcement action under Chapter 403, Florida Statutes, or Title 62, Florida Administrative Code rules regarding the Saufley Landfill, provided it acts in good faith to address other environmental violations at the site.

The Department of Environmental Protection is required to provide reasonable assistance to Escambia County in addressing violations of environmental laws and regulations at the Saufley Landfill.

The bill applies to property owned by Louisiana Investment Group, LLC that Escambia County is acquiring for the purpose of addressing environmental violations.
