HB 1545 - Florida Kidcare Program

• Allows children under 1 year of age to enroll in the Medikids program component (previously limited to ages 1-5).

• Permits lawful immigrant children to enroll in Florida Kidcare regardless of their date of entry into the United States.

• Extends Medicaid eligibility for children under 19 to 12 months of continuous coverage regardless of changes in circumstances, and adds pregnant women for the duration of pregnancy plus postpartum period.

• Removes the exclusion for temporomandibular joint disease (TMJ) treatment from Kidcare coverage and allows children whose family income exceeds 200 percent of federal poverty level to participate with state-sponsored health benefits.

• Expands the Florida Healthy Kids Corporation board of directors from 11 to 12 members by adding a representative from the Florida Dental Association.
