Authorizes the Collier County Sheriff's Office to pay $1,129,042.44 to J. Rae Hoyer individually and as Personal Representative of the Estate of David J. Hoyer, M.D.

Payment compensates for Dr. Hoyer's death on January 6, 2001, caused in part by negligence of the Sheriff's Office when an inmate attacked him during a court-ordered psychiatric evaluation.

Represents the unpaid portion of a $1,329,042.44 total judgment from a 2005 federal court case where the Sheriff was found 50 percent comparatively at fault; the Sheriff's Office previously paid the $200,000 statutory limit under Florida law.

Limits attorney's fees, lobbying fees, costs, and related expenses to a maximum of 25 percent of the awarded amount.

Combined payment from this act and prior statutory payment ($200,000) constitutes sole compensation for all claims arising from Dr. Hoyer's death.
