Amends workers' compensation law for off-duty deputy sheriffs to clarify that "enforcing criminal, traffic, or penal laws" includes providing security, patrol, or traffic direction services for public or private employers.

Allows sheriffs to recover from employers any increased workers' compensation expenses resulting directly from off-duty deputy sheriff employment.

Extends the workers' compensation presumption for tuberculosis, heart disease, and hypertension to correctional probation officers, in addition to law enforcement and correctional officers.

Eliminates the presumption for workers' compensation claims filed on or after July 1, 2010, if an officer materially departs from prescribed medical treatment and the departure significantly aggravates the condition.

Requires claims for the presumption to be filed before the officer leaves employment and permits independent medical examinations to resolve disputes about treatment appropriateness or aggravation causation.
