Department of Environmental Protection, St. Johns River Water Management District, Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, and City of Sanford must develop a plan to enable muck removal from Lake Jesup in Seminole County as part of aquatic habitat restoration efforts.

Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission shall report to the Legislature on progress toward muck removal plan on October 1, 2010, and quarterly thereafter until a disposal site receives all necessary state permits or muck removal can proceed without a designated site.

Acquisition of a muck-disposal site is designated as a conservation and restoration acquisition eligible under the Florida Forever program to improve ecological integrity of Lake Jesup.

State agencies are encouraged to expend funds to assist in removing muck from the bottom of Lake Jesup, which in some areas exceeds 9.5 feet in thickness.
