Creates s. 775.0876, F.S. to reclassify criminal offenses committed "under color of law" by one felony or misdemeanor level, with misdemeanor of the second degree becoming misdemeanor of the first degree and felony of the first degree becoming a life felony.

Applies reclassification when an offense is furthered or facilitated by a person acting or purporting to act in the performance of official duties under any law, ordinance, or regulation.

Requires reclassified felony offenses to be ranked one level above their ranking under the sentencing guidelines in chapter 921.

Exempts offenses where acting or purporting to act in the performance of official duties is an essential element of the underlying crime.

Takes effect July 1, 2010.
