Requires middle school students in grades 7-8 to complete a career and education planning course as a promotion requirement, taught by any instructional staff member.

Course must include career exploration aligned to the National Career Clusters supported by Florida's Career Clusters Initiative and use the CHOICES program or comparable cost-effective alternative.

Course must include educational planning using the FACTS.org online student advising system and result in completion of a personalized academic and career plan.

Requires schools to hold parent meetings in evening or weekend hours to inform parents about course curriculum and activities, with students completing electronic personal education plans signed by student, instructor/counselor, and parent.

Takes effect July 1, 2010.
