Short title: "Adam Pierce Act" relating to retirement and special risk membership in Florida's retirement system.

Expands definition of "special risk member" to include members who previously qualified for special risk membership under existing criteria, suffered a qualifying injury in the line of duty, and can perform essential job functions in a new position.

Establishes medical certification requirements: two licensed physicians must certify the member has reached maximum medical improvement and suffered physical loss or loss of use of at least two limbs (arms or legs), with the loss being total and permanent or at least 75 percent motor function loss if brain injury-related.

Prohibits this provision from granting or creating additional employment rights beyond those provided in Florida Statutes, the State Constitution, the Americans with Disabilities Act, or applicable state and federal law.

Effective August 1, 2008, with retroactive application to qualifying injuries occurring after that date; members receiving disability retirement benefits are ineligible for this special risk membership continuation.
