Creates section 775.0865, Florida Statutes, establishing enhanced penalties for burglary (s. 810.02) and theft (s. 812.014) committed on grounds of a religious institution.

Reclassifies felony degrees upward when offenses occur on religious institution grounds: third degree felonies become second degree, second degree become first degree, and first degree become life felonies.

Defines "religious institution" using the same meaning as provided in section 496.404, Florida Statutes.

Ranks reclassified offenses one level above the standard ranking under sentencing guidelines (s. 921.0022 or 921.0023) for purposes of sentencing and incentive gain-time eligibility.

Takes effect October 1, 2010.
