SB 2294 - Unemployment Compensation

• Defines "agency" as the Agency for Workforce Innovation and adds definitions for "alternative base period" and "member of the individual's immediate family"

• Prohibits denying benefits solely because an individual is available only for part-time work if hours are comparable to those worked during the majority of the base period

• Allows use of an alternative base period (last four completed calendar quarters before benefit year) if claimant is ineligible under the standard base period, with claimant having opportunity to choose which period to use

• Expands definition of "good cause" for voluntarily leaving work to include domestic violence, illness/disability of immediate family members, and spouse relocation due to employment change

• Requires employers to provide wage information within 10 days when requested and allows Agency to accept affidavits from claimants attesting to wages if information is unavailable

• Effective date: July 1, 2010
