Creates section 775.0876, Florida Statutes, to reclassify criminal offenses committed under color of law by public officials or those asserting public authority.

Elevates misdemeanor penalties by one degree (second degree to first degree, first degree to third-degree felony) and felony penalties by one degree (third degree to second degree, second degree to first degree, first degree to life felony).

Requires reclassified felonies to be ranked one level above their standard ranking under Florida's sentencing guidelines (Chapter 921).

Exempts offenses where acting under color of law is a necessary element of the underlying crime from reclassification under this statute.

Takes effect July 1, 2011.
