Department of Elderly Affairs must develop and implement a public education program on memory impairment screening and early diagnosis of Alzheimer's disease and related disorders.

Department may award grants to public and nonprofit entities that provide education, screening, or support services related to Alzheimer's disease, with preference to applicants with demonstrated experience and matching funds.

Grant recipients must submit annual evaluations to the department describing activities, effectiveness in promoting early detection, and other required information.

Department may set aside up to 15 percent of appropriated funds to provide technical support to grantees for developing and implementing screening programs.

Training certificates for employees and direct caregivers in Alzheimer's care are transferable across assisted living facilities, nursing homes, hospices, home health agencies, and adult day care centers without requiring re-training in the same topic.
