Allows former justices or judges who failed to win reelection or retention after more than 12 years of service to qualify as retired justices or judges, subject to certain disqualifications.

Disqualifies former justices or judges from serving as retired justices or judges if they have been disciplined by the Florida Supreme Court, had charges brought by the Judicial Qualifications Commission that were not dismissed or resulted in exoneration, or if any party objects to their assignment in a civil case.

Exempts retired judges who consent to temporary duty assignments from renewed membership requirements, termination provisions, and the 12-month reemployment limitation under Florida Statutes sections 121.021 and 121.091.

Effective date: July 1, 2011.
