CS/HB 4087 Summary

• Eliminates the requirement that traffic infraction detector citations include photographs showing both the license tag and traffic control device being violated.

• Repeals sections 316.008(8), 316.0083, 316.00831, 316.07456, 316.0776, and 321.50, effectively eliminating the authorization for the Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, counties, and municipalities to use traffic infraction detectors to enforce traffic signal violations.

• Removes provisions authorizing traffic infraction enforcement officers to issue citations for traffic signal violations detected by automated cameras.

• Eliminates the tiered penalty structure for traffic signal violations based on whether enforcement was by a law enforcement officer or traffic infraction enforcement officer; consolidates to a single $158 penalty with standard distribution.

• Removes the provision that violations detected by traffic infraction enforcement officers cannot result in driver's license points or be used for insurance rate setting.
