CS/HB 5005 - Deregulation of Professions and Occupations

• Eliminates interior designer registration and licensing, integrating interior design into the practice of architecture; reduces Board of Architecture membership from 11 to 7 members by removing interior designer representatives.

• Repeals regulations for multiple professions and occupations including auctioneers, yacht/ship brokers, talent agencies, athlete agents, health studios, dance studios, telemarketing businesses, moving companies, and business opportunity sellers.

• Removes professional fundraising consultant and solicitor registration requirements under Chapter 496 and eliminates water vending machine operator permitting.

• Exempts hair braiders, hair wrappers, and body wrappers from cosmetology licensure requirements and eliminates outdoor theater regulations.

• Removes roominghouse as a public lodging establishment classification and repeals motor vehicle repair shop registration and sellers of travel registration requirements; effective July 1, 2011.
