CS for HB 7087 & HB 7091 Summary

• Repeals multiple education statutes including the Digital Divide Council (s. 445.049), false academic degree claims law (s. 817.567), and various teacher shortage and literacy programs (ss. 1001.291, 1004.50-1004.52, 1004.95, 1004.97, 1009.54, 1009.57-1009.59)

• Eliminates the Merit Award Program for instructional personnel and school-based administrators and related end-of-course examination administration provisions (ss. 1012.225, 1012.2251)

• Removes requirements for middle school students who earned high school credit in Algebra I during 2007-2010 to take the Algebra I end-of-course assessment during the 2010-2011 school year

• Repeals professional service contract provisions for instructional staff (s. 1012.33(3)(a)-(c)) effective July 1, 2011

• Updates related sections to remove references to repealed teacher shortage and financial aid programs throughout the Florida Statutes
