HB 7097 Summary

• Relocates the Statewide Office for Suicide Prevention from the Office of Drug Control to the Department of Children and Family Services, with grant revenues directed to that department's trust fund.

• Abolishes the Office of Drug Control by repealing the statute creating it (s. 397.332) and transferring the Statewide Drug Policy Advisory Council to the Department of Health under the Surgeon General's chairmanship.

• Moves the Seaport Security Standards Advisory Council from the Office of Drug Control to the Executive Office of the Governor, with the Governor designating the council chair.

• Repeals the prescription drug monitoring program statutes (s. 893.055 and 893.0551).

• Replaces references to the Director of the Office of Drug Control with the Policy Coordinator of the Public Safety Unit of the Governor's Office of Planning and Budgeting on the Florida Violent Crime and Drug Control Council and related committees, effective July 1, 2011.
