Recognizes the 50th anniversary of New College of Florida and honors the achievements of its students, alumni, faculty, and staff

New College was founded in 1960, dedicated its Sarasota campus on the former Charles Ringling estate in 1962, and enrolled its first class in 1964

College became part of the State University System in 1975, gained independence as the 11th system member in 2001, and was designated the State Honors College for liberal arts and sciences

Alumni have won major national and international scholarships including Fields Medal, Rhodes Scholar, British Marshall Scholar, Gates Cambridge Scholar, and numerous Fulbright Scholarships
