The Legislature created the Eleventh Judicial Circuit on May 27, 1911, effective June 10, 1911, by separating it from the Seventh Judicial Circuit.

The original circuit consisted of Dade, Monroe, and Palm Beach Counties, with Livingstone Wesley Bethel of Key West serving as the first circuit court judge.

The Eleventh Judicial Circuit currently has jurisdiction over Miami-Dade County and includes 123 circuit and county court judges and more than 14,000 attorneys serving a population of over 2.5 million people.

The House of Representatives honors the Eleventh Judicial Circuit on its 100th anniversary and recognizes its long service to Miami-Dade County and the Florida judiciary.
