Authorizes certified process servers to serve writs of possession in residential property possession actions, in addition to their existing authority to serve initial civil process and criminal subpoenas.

Allows landlords to select certified process servers from their circuit to serve writs of possession instead of requiring the sheriff to serve them.

Requires certified process servers to provide written notice to the sheriff within 12 hours after posting a writ of possession, including the date and time of posting.

Modifies language in existing law to clarify that writs of possession may be executed by authorized persons other than the sheriff.

Takes effect July 1, 2011.
