Prohibits persons from practicing surgical technology in health care facilities unless they hold a certified surgical technologist credential, completed military training, were employed in the field by July 1, 2011, or work for the Federal Government.

Allows a 12-month grace period for employment after completion of a surgical technology program, after which workers must obtain certified surgical technologist credential to continue employment.

Requires health care facilities to verify that surgical technologists maintain continuing education (15 hours annually for those qualifying under military or prior employment pathways) and appropriate credentials.

Requires health care facilities to supervise surgical technologists to ensure competent performance of perioperative tasks in accordance with applicable law.

Exempts licensed health care practitioners and medical/osteopathic students from these requirements when acting within their scope of practice.
