SB 1450 Summary

• Amends Florida Statutes section 1003.03 to cap penalties for school districts that fail to meet class size requirements at $1,000 per school in each district.

• Modifies the Department of Education's penalty calculation methodology by limiting reductions to the lesser of the calculated amount or the district's undistributed balance of class size categorical allocation.

• Adds explicit prohibition stating penalties for noncompliance with class size requirements may not exceed $1,000 per school in each district, regardless of other legal provisions.

• Takes effect July 1, 2011.
