CS/HB 171 - Osteopathic Physicians

• Revises examination score requirements for osteopathic physician licensure to allow passing scores from the National Board of Osteopathic Medical Examiners or board-approved examinations obtained no more than 5 years before application, or for out-of-state license holders, initial licensure occurring no more than 5 years after passing the examination.

• Allows the board to deny applications, issue licenses with restrictions, or issue unrestricted licenses upon meeting board conditions for applicants with more than 2 years of practice interruption, if the board determines the interruption has adversely affected their present ability to practice.

• Removes references to "assistant resident physician" and "house physician" from registration requirements for resident physicians, interns, and fellows in section 459.021.

• Requires hospitals to designate a person to furnish lists of osteopathic residents, interns, and fellows employed during the preceding 6-month period and identify the chief executive officer responsible for filing reports.

• Takes effect July 1, 2012.
