HB 253 Summary

• Amends the state employees' prescription drug program administered by the Department of Management Services to authorize 90-day supplies of maintenance medications for chronic conditions.

• Allows any state-licensed retail pharmacy participating in the program to dispense 90-day maintenance prescription medication to program members, subscribers, or covered dependents with chronic diseases including heart disease, diabetes, HIV/AIDS, end-stage renal disease, or cancer.

• Sets the dispensing fee for a 90-day prescription supply at 1.5 times the fee charged for a 30-day supply.

• Takes effect July 1, 2012.
