Manuel Antonio Matute, age 60, was killed on October 29, 2008, when struck head-on by a Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office vehicle on U.S. Highway 441 in West Palm Beach.

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office agreed to settle the wrongful death claim for $500,000 on January 4, 2011, with $128,149.02 paid in May 2011 under statutory liability limits.

Authorizes the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office to appropriate and pay $371,850.98 to Eddna Torres De Mayne as personal representative of Manuel A. Matute's estate to complete the settlement.

Combined payment ($128,149.02 plus $371,850.98) constitutes sole compensation for all present and future claims arising from Manuel Antonio Matute's death.

Limits attorney's fees, lobbying fees, costs, and related expenses to 15 percent of the amount awarded under this act.
