Requires high school students to earn one-half credit in health education, independent of physical education requirements.

Allows students to waive the health education credit requirement if they request to take a Department of Education-developed health education assessment and score a "C" or better.

Reduces elective course credits from eight to seven and one-half to accommodate the new health education requirement, keeping total graduation credits at 24.

Removes language requiring physical education to include integration of health content, as health education becomes a separate credit.

Takes effect July 1, 2012.
