HB 641 Summary

• Eliminates minimum live performance requirements for greyhound permitholders beginning with fiscal year 2012-2013, allowing them to conduct pari-mutuel wagering activities without conducting any live races.

• Revises license application procedures to allow greyhound permitholders to amend applications through August 31, 2012 (extended from February 28) and removes requirement that converted permits conduct full schedules to qualify for tax credits.

• Modifies tax exemption and credit transfer provisions by allowing permits conducting fewer than 100 live performances to forfeit exemptions, with forfeited amounts pooled and redistributed to permitholders conducting at least 100 live performances.

• Authorizes greyhound permitholders that have held annual licenses for 10 years or were converted from jai alai permits to conduct intertrack wagering without requiring written consent from other operating greyhound permitholders in their market area.

• Removes live performance requirements for greyhound permitholders to obtain or renew cardroom licenses and eliminates mandatory purse supplement payments when no live racing is conducted.
