Adds aggravated fleeing or eluding with serious bodily injury or death as a felony that triggers murder charges when a death occurs during perpetration or attempted perpetration of that offense.

Requires life imprisonment without parole eligibility for defendants convicted of specified murder offenses (first, second, or third degree) when the victim is a correctional officer, correctional probation officer, or related officer engaged in lawful duty.

Updates the Criminal Punishment Code offense severity ranking chart to reflect the new murder offense and related sentencing provisions.

Reenacts related statutes (sections 775.0823, 782.051, 782.065, and 947.146) to incorporate amendments and maintain consistency across law enforcement protection provisions.

Takes effect October 1, 2012.
