A municipality within Pinellas County cannot annex unincorporated territory within the defined East Lake Tarpon Community boundaries unless approved by majority vote of the community's electors in a referendum.

Individual property owners may apply for voluntary annexation into a municipality and be approved without requiring community-wide referendum approval.

The East Lake Tarpon Community boundaries are defined by specific legal description beginning at the Northeast Corner of Section 1, Township 27 South, Range 16 East and encompassing areas bounded by Lake Tarpon, the Anclote River, and county lines, excluding any areas already annexed into Oldsmar or Tarpon Springs.

The act expires September 30, 2022.

The act takes effect upon becoming law.
