CS/HB 935 - Child Support Enforcement

• Allows child support obligors to avoid driver license and motor vehicle registration suspension by beginning to pay delinquency through income deduction within 20 days of notice.

• Permits garnishees to consent to receive notices by secure email or fax instead of mail.

• Requires Chief Financial Officer to establish automated method for providing Department of Revenue an electronic file of state contractors and property lessees owing past due support, enabling garnishment of state payments to those individuals.

• Authorizes administrative liens on claims, settlements, or judgments that may result in payment to the obligor for unpaid and delinquent support.

• Revises unclaimed property procedures to allow department to enter final order instructing transfer of property rather than requiring separate notification process.

• Effective July 1, 2012.
