HB 1051 Summary

• Department of Health must adopt a rule by July 1, 2012 adding human papillomavirus to the list of communicable diseases for which immunizations are recommended

• Beginning with the 2012-2013 school year, schools must provide parents or guardians of grade 6 students information prescribed by the Department of Health regarding the connection between human papillomavirus and cervical cancer

• Information provided to parents must notify them that a vaccine is available to prevent human papillomavirus infection and that the vaccine is recommended for females before they enter grade 8

• Act takes effect upon becoming law
